On Saturday, September 14th, a lecture about the potato will be held for the third time in Stúkuhúsið, here at the museum.
"The Great Famine" (an Gorta Mór) is the title of the lecture, and Helga Einarsdóttir will be the lecturer at this year´s festival.
Helga is an ethnologist who studied in Cork, Ireland and worked for a time at the National Museum in Dublin.
Famine, disease and the exodus from Ireland between 1845 and 1852 due to the potato blight that ravaged all of Europe will be featured in the lecture.
At the end of the lecture, there will be a discussion and light refreshments, coffee and potato candy will be offered.
We welcome all to join.
