Jón Allansson made a formal delivery of the ship-bell from M/S Rogaland to the Stiftelsen Veteranskipet Rogaland which is an organization that focuses on preserving and restoring the M/S Rogaland. The bell has been one of the museum exhibits since 2012.

This bell was on board the Akraborg II which was bought from Det Stavangerske Dampskibsselskap A.S. to Iceland in 1974 and was in use until 1984, going back and forth between Akranes and Reykjavík. The bell was never used as a ship-bell but was used as a decoration and some sort of a lucky charm. When Akraborg III was operated in 1984 the bell was moved to the new ship which sailed until 1998 when the the tunnel under Whale fjord (I. Hvalfjörður) was opened and the regular ferry sailings between Akranes and Reykjavík were stopped.
